Managing your summer budget

School uniforms, extra meals, holiday treats – there are a lot of expenses that start to add up over the summer, especially if you have kids.

None of it is more important than paying your rent. Try these summer budget tips to keep your rent payments on track but still make the most of the summer.

  • Set up a Direct Debit so your payments are taken care of automatically
  • Take charge of your account with MyCKH – check your balance regularly
  • Be a voucher vulture – keep an eye open for vouchers in local newspapers as well as great deals available online
  • Do it yourself – try affordable crafts, construct a den from sheets and blankets or tuck in to a homemade picnic to keep the kids entertained.

Stamping out sub-letting

We’re offering a £250 reward to any of our customers who help us to identify and resolve genuine cases of sub-letting.

Sub-letting happens when a tenant stops living in their home and lets it to someone else. Sub-letting your home is against the terms and conditions of your tenancy and can lead to prosecution. We take it so seriously because sub-letting stops us from providing homes to the people who need them most. When someone moves into one of our homes, we know they really need a quality, affordable home.

We don’t believe it’s right or fair that a person should be able to make a profit from someone else in genuine need.

Since our crack down on sub-letting began, we’ve received loads of critical information from our tenants about their suspicions. Thank you to everyone who has got in touch to share these details – it’s made a huge impact on what we’ve been able to achieve.
